My FAVORITE Podcast Site!

Yes, it's true...I can't believe I haven't officially shared it with you yet...maybe I've taken it for granted, but I must admit, Podomatic is by far, my favorite place to find ANY kind of podcast you want. I'm not sure if you've noticed or not, but to the right of this blog, a little lower, you will notice a widget that says "House Junkee Podcast." Notice the "Junkee" similarities? Well, that's because I am also a DJ, who spins ALL kinds of house music and I created House Junkee for people who don't like to be pigeonholed into just one type of "House Music" (since there are SO many). I chose Podomatic because I knew I could reach a much broader audience by offering free downloads AND free subscription through i-tunes. They also offer a wide variety of statistics for each podcaster, depending on which package you choose (free and up). So there you have it...whether you want music, poetry, talk radio, tech tips, sports, TV & Film, etc. This is your place to find it all! Now go run free and tell me what you think...

I (Heart) photography...Do You?

Whether you're a professional photographer, a scrap book'r, a photo blogger, a Flickr Taker,  a camera
collector, a.....well, you get the point. Whatever it is you're into when it comes to photography,
PhotoJoJo is  where it's at!
I mean, where else can you find a site that will help you keep a "Time Capsule" of your photos?!
No, really...it's pretty damn cool!
"Every couple weeks, the Time Capsule looks at your Flickraccount for photos you took a year ago. It picks the ones that are most interesting — the ones that got viewed the most, favorited the most, and commented on the most — and sends them to you in email."
Not only that, but this site has everything you can think of when it comes to photo-tips and projects. Maybe you're even looking for the most kick ass photo gear and gifts...check out the PhotoJoJo Store!

Well, that was fun for me...how 'bout you? Hope you enjoy my newest find...

Now THAT'S Weird (but PERFECT for Halloween)!

In efforts to find off the wall sites to share with you, I managed to come across Oddee.com
It's a blog full of  "strange and bizarre things of our world." After browsing for a while, I must say I agree...but it's not that kind of strange that makes you leave the site and never come back (or at least not for me). For me, it was more like, "Holy crap! Who would ever want to do that?!" And then I was on to the next article of "oddities."
Oddee.com

So there you go...run free with it, get the heebie jeebies and then come back for more.

Oh and Happy Halloween!

A Learning Community For Photographers

Okay Site Junkees...I found another cool site today while browsing the web...it's called Cambridge In Colour. It's basically a site that helps you make the most of your digital camera by learning new photo techniques. Everything from digital exposure techniques, to taking photos in fog, mist or haze to many other styles and techniques. Not only did I find some excellent ways to make my digital photos look better...I also found an AMAZING photo collection by the editor and creator of the site, Sean T. McHugh, (who by the way, attended  the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom).

So there ya go...browse the site...learn some new techniques, and tell me what you think.

Laughing Squid

If you locked a group of geeks and artists in a room for a week and told them to come up with something entertaining, you'd end up with "Laughing Squid."
As they put it..."Laughing Squid is an online resource for art, culture & technology "
But, it's SO much more than that! As I browsed the site, I noticed they offer web hosting services as well as many informative and entertaining articles on art events in and around San Francisco. They also have a Link Blog with lots of links to other sites showcasing art, tech tips, art shows, events, etc.
Hope you get a chance to browse the site and explore like I did.

Slightly Warped Curiosities

Okay "Site Junkees", here is my newest site...kinda off the wall, but kinda cool all at the same time.

Train Your Brain!

As I reach my mid thirties, I seem to pay more and more attention to what I can do to slow my aging process. Having two grandparents who have passed, both with Alzheimer's Disease...I can't help but fear a similar outcome. So in an attempt to change my future outcome, I have found a website that's like exercise  for the brain, called Lumosity
Their mission: "is to create innovative neuroscience-based tools that empower people to lead better lives through better brain health and performance"

After playing a few of the different "brain games", I must admit...I feel a bit more alert and ready to take on the world...give it a try and tell me what you think.
Till next time....

Life Hacker

Do It Yourselfer's unite! If I can learn to do something on my own without paying for it, then you better believe I am more than will to give it a shot first...which is why I LOVE LifeHacker! It's a a place where you can find "Tips and downloads for getting things done" (i.e. how to Turn a Grill Tray into a Jewelery Organizer, or How to Pick an Android Smartphone, or maybe you wanna learn how to Use Levels to Fix Poorly Exposed Photos). Whatever it is, I'm sure you can find out how to get it done at this site. Or if  you'd like to share your own secrets or tips on how to do something you don't already see on this site, you can do that as well. Be a contributor. Be a "Life Hacker." I am...

Vice Magazine

Once upon a time, I lived in Hollywood...one of the things I grew to love while living there was a magazine called VICE. I would be walking down a street, past some store and notice a magazine rack with some kind of crazy picture or cool art on the cover which would catch my eye...then "FREE" would catch my eye. "Seriously? This magazine is free.99?" So, of course I would grab a copy and read through it...finding everything from pictures of people passed out drunk in random places, to pictures of medical issues gone wrong, to stupid funny comics like the one below...
Every month, I would keep a look out around the city for issues of VICE (many places that carried it, would be rid of it too fast to have a place I could rely on finding it...so it became a sort of treasure hunt some months). Ever since moving away from LA, I am no longer graced with free copies at my disposal, BUT...lucky for me, they have a website where I can read up on all the crazy shit they continue to publish...I feel it my duty to share their site with you....so go ahead "Site Junkee"...get lost in the craziness of VICE!
Let me know what you think...

The Oatmeal

I find it difficult sometimes to find a site that can keep me entertained AND laughing throughout my time spent on that site. I was so happy when I came across The Oatmeal, that I HAD to share it with you!

This website is completely run by "one guy" (his words). There are some great comics to read over, like this one... 10 Reasons It would Rule To Date A Unicorn

Then there's a Blog and many other things to keep you coming back for more. Trust me, it's worth checking out!
Thanks "Guy!"

Fibers

Thinking of branding your name? Or maybe you're just tired of the same ol' mainstream Tees you see everywhere you go to shop, so you're ready to get your own ideas printed on a Tee for yourself...or your family...or for your friend's birthday...or...or...the possibilities are endless at Fibers; a site I found earlier while browsing through trusty FB (yes, sometimes their ads DO catch my attention damnit).
This site is "crazy  about self-expression and strives to create an experience for customers that offers the ultimate in product customization."

So I gave it a try and I must admit, I'm pleased with the results...
Heck, I may even order one of these bad boys!
Oh, and if you don't feel like creating your own design, don't stress...there are 1,000's of pre designed templates for you to browse through until you find one that's right up your alley.

Okay folks, have fun with this one and let me know what you think if you happen to try Fibers out for yourself...

Yoga Finder

I have been wanting to try Yoga for........well, for a LONG time! Why I haven't tried it yet is lame and I really have no excuses other than I've allowed my petty life to get in the way of doing things that can not only benefit, but also CHANGE my life and the way I live. So, today is my first step in finding the right yoga class for me...after doing some reasearch, I found a website called Yoga Finder. This site is AMAZING! No matter where you live...country, state, city, town....this site will find a class in your area.
Thinking of becoming a Yoga teacher...or maybe you just want to find a Yoga retreat...or a single Yoga event in your area....well, I would recommend searching through the Yoga Finder site before searching all over google. It could save hours out of your day like it did for me! As a matter of fact, I found a center I plan to try next week, and at a very reasonable price ($20 for my 1st three classes).
So there ya go...a new Site for a new "You".

Stumbleupon- Discover New Websites

Ever wish you could just click a button and *poof*... a web page matched to your personal preference would magically appear? Me too! So I found a site that does just that...STumbleUpon.

"StumbleUpon uses / ratings to form collaborative opinions on website quality. When you stumble, you will only see pages that friends and like-minded stumblers () have recommended. This helps you discover great content you probably wouldn’t find using a search engine."

Since I've signed up for this site, I have discovered ALL sorts of cool new websites and reading material. Be warned though...this site can be very addictive and time consuming.
If you wanna see my page, go here!
Otherwise, go check it out...join...sart following me and I'll do the same. It'll be fun! Oh, and tell me what you think of the site.
I wanna know!

As heard about on NPR Talk Radio...Wikileaks

So I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio) the other day about a website that allows you to submit documents, video, audio, or just plain information that you feel needs to be shared with the public ("Principled leaking") and they mentioned the release of the Afghan War Diary, 2004-2010 which is a collection of over 91,000 reports covering the war in Afghanistan from 2004 to 2010, written by soldiers and intelligence officers. I thought to myself, wtf?! So, when I got home, I checked out this Wikileaks website and discovered it's purpose and what it's doing to make positive changes in the world...

"WikiLeaks is a multi-jurisdictional public service designed to protect whistleblowers, journalists and activists who have sensitive materials to communicate to the public.    -WikiLeaks:About Page"

Basically, this site exposes many corrupt occurrences that "we" would never know about if not for a site like this..and THAT, my friends, is why I've decided to share this site with you today.

Till next time...tell me what you think of the site.

b@ Features...Join the Party!

Have you ever wanted to go to a festival to see your favorite DJ, but couldn't? Maybe you had to work, or you had other plans you couldn't break, or...it was in ANOTHER COUNTRY?? Yeah me too, which is why I'm really diggin' this new site I found, Be @ TV.
You can look up a music event by name...or you can search a DJ's name. For instance, I would've LOVED to see Roger Sanchez at Tomorrowlands which happened a few days ago on July 25th. So I clicked on Tomorrowlands/Roger Sanchez link and I got to watch his set, wich was recorded through FOUR different angles!! I could feel (and see) the vibe of his set, which is WAY COOL!
If you'd like to see what I'm talking about, click on ROGER SANCHEZ or IDA ENGBERG now.

POGO

Just wanted to pass a long a game site I tend to use quite frequently. Good graphics, free (cheap monthly dues if you don't want the advertisements) and LOADS of fun! One of my favorite features is the fact that you can create a "mini"and purchase clothing, backgrounds, haircuts, pets, etc. for your "mini" to reflect as closely or as opposite from yourself as you'd like.

Petizens...its like Facebook for your pet

I'm not even sure how I came across this site, but I'm so happy I did. Having an
animal in your life can really change a person and their state of happiness. My girlfriend and I have 6 cats and they ALL have a very distinct personality. I can't count how many times I've said that a couple of them needed their own blog because of the silly things they do. Now that I've found Pitizens I no longer have to "think" about starting that blog...this is better than a blog. It truly is like Facebook for your pet(s). It works just like a networking site. You create a profile for yourself AND for your pet...your pet is the one who's profile page everyone sees. Petizens i
s a worldwide network, so you can see people's pets from ALL over the globe.

WOOT! Rocks!

Sure, I've heard the term "woot", but I never really got the point....as far as the website goes...I get it now. And I Love it! The concept is brilliant as far as I'm concerned! Basically, they sell one item per day until it is sold out or until 11:59pm central time when it is replaced by a new item. That *new* item is released every morning at 12am central time, seven days a week. It's a great way to keep people like me coming back just out of pure curiosity if nothing else. OH, and they also have what they call a “woot off” (found at Sellout.woot)where they take the products that didn’t get sold and sell them back to back at an even LOWER price until all of them are gone.  This is the only time products change more than once in a 24 hour period.
I love woot so much, I registered with 2 of their other sites as well...
WINE.WOOT    AND... SHIRT.WOOT

Okay my friends...that's it for my next "Site Junkee" review worth checking out!
I hope you'll take a moment to look around and possibly join....I did.

Have you heard of DeviantART?

Think of it as the "Myspace" for Artists. DeviantART has over 13 million registered members and attracts 35 million unique visitors per month. As a community destination, deviantART is my personal fave....the site allows emerging and established artists to display, promote, and share their works within a peer community dedicated to the arts. You may wonder why DeviantART is so popular.... I'm sure it's due to the fact that the site receives over 100,000 daily uploads of original art works ranging from traditional media, such as painting, drawing and sculpture to poetry, short stories, pixel art, films, anime, photography, digital artwork, etc. etc. etc. I view DeviantART as the "open door policy" to the world of Art, and I LOVE it! I have never been negatively criticized for any of my own work I've posted ...as a matter of fact, this community  is very encouraging to everyone willing to share their passions to the rest of us. It is for this reason (among many others) that I have decided to share the site with you. If you are an artist or just like to admire the arts from afar, then you NEED to check out DeviantART.com!

Attention Fans of Liquor

Yes, I said Liquor...If you are anything like me, then you probably find yourself at various bars or restaurants wanting to try something different than your average "Vodka Tonic". I know I've told the bartender, "Make me something different", and sometimes it's a hit...sometimes it's not (which makes paying $10 a cocktail less enjoyable).
Today I somehow stumbled upon a site called liquor.com....which not only tells you about any kind of liquor imaginable, but also informs you of the newest drink trends as well as yummy featured cocktail recipes.
Since I am an avid Tequila drinker, I decided to type in "Tequila" to the search bar and if you click on the word "Tequila", you will see exactly what came up....heaven!
Wait...I'm not done. My favorite part to this whole site is the "The Editor's Deal:San Francisco" (seeing as how I reside in San Francisco). Who knew you could actually find coupons on food AND drinks for literally HALF PRICE! The deal they have right now is "$15 for $30 of Food and Drinks at 5A5 Steak Lounge", and the deal changes every day, so if you're wanting to try new places to eat and taste that new refreshing cocktail, then this is the site to frequent. They even have an email list to keep you posted on the newest deals.
Ahh, technology and liquor...two things I adore.

Well, that's it for my newest "find"....stay tuned as I am on the prowl to expose more fun and exciting sites for you to try.
Till next time...Here's a Toast to YOU!

Dance Culture Sites Worth Checking Out

So in efforts to keep people informed on House Music and my view of the DJ culture, I have decided to list a few sites I feel worthy of checking out. In my opinion, these sites are always up to date with the latest in dance music as well as the dance culture here in San Francisco.

MUSIC DOWNLOAD SITES

Beatport is the recognized leader in electronic dance music downloads for DJs and club music enthusiasts. Download high quality MP3s and WAV file formats. Weekly top ten DJ Charts. Buy from 600k+ tracks of House, Techno, Electro, Trance, Drum & Bass, Minimal, Dubstep and ten other dance music genres. Ten free digital downloads to get you started.
2. STOMPY
Stompy.COM is an online boutique specializing in House Music Digital Downloads. High-Quality Mp3 DJ Mixes & Pro-Quality WAV & Mp3 DJ Tracks. All of their tracks are either $1.49 or $1.99. If you're as into the San Francisco style as much as I am, then THIS is the site to get your authentic SF sound on the download!
Om is a San Francisco based music and lifestyle company. They are artists and producers of music, design, fashion and events for a global community of forward thinking people. Since OM began in 1995, they have grown to become highly recognized and respected throughout the global music community.
Whether you're looking for music to purchase, a podcast or radio to listen to,  cool swagger merchandise to wear, videos to keep you entertained or a blog that keeps you in the loop...this is a site NOT to miss!
eMusic's vast catalogue comprises more than 6 million tracks from over 60,000 record labels that span every conceivable music genre including rock, jazz, comedy, hip-hop, blues, classical, country, folk, children's music, electronic, world, reggae and more. eMusic offers music lovers and casual music fans a more immersive, authentic music experience and better prices than mass market digital music retailers. Trust me, if you're looking for a more eclectic, up and coming selection of music, this site is excellent!

SAN FRANCISCO EVENT SITES

Looking for a club event to attend in a major city? From San Francisco to New York City and many more in between, this site has the scoop on where you can catch that DJ you've always wanted to see. Or if you're looking for something new to check out,  just choose a city from the drop down list and take you pick from weekly's to monthly's to "one off's". If you're curious to see the type of crowd that attends, you can also check out Eventvibe's massive Photo Galleries from past events.

SF Station is an online lifestyle city guide which covers a wide range of the San Francisco Bay Area's Arts, Entertainment & Cultural events.

The site's advanced up-to-the-minute Events Calendar will keep you from missing a beat on what's going on around town. Their dynamic Local Business Directory has everything from restaurants, clubs, dance lessons, museums, shopping, daycare and everything in between. It's no surprise why SF Station has become the Go-To site for socially active users between 21-45 years old.

3. GOING
One of my favorite features of this site is not only that you can choose the city you are in and then find all the events around town, but you can also see whether an event is worth going to and view who else likes it. You can also Discover people who share your interests and look up groups that sound interesting to you. With its interactive fan base, you can See who else wants to go. People are meeting up to do stuff all the time. Feel free to post a message for the event and see who else is open for meeting up.

So there it is....I hope you find this post informative and worth passing along to your friends, because hey...not everyone knows where to find the "cool stuff".
Check back in the future, as I will be presenting some other sites I find worth mentioning. Whether it's music, video, gadgets, radio, shopping, new talent, etc....I'm sure to discover it and share it with the world.
